Dorris Brown, 99, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on December 1, 2012 at her home. She was born on January 6, 1913 in Mounds, Oklahoma, the daughter of Travis James Cowan and Martha Elizabeth (Freeman) Cowan. She married Raymond C. Brown on June 5, 1931 in Westville, Oklahoma and made a wonderful life together to which three children were born. Dorris had lived in Pryor for the past 33 years moving here from Strang, Oklahoma. She enjoyed being involved in various home demonstration clubs. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Pryor. Dorris worked for the Tots to Teens Store in Pryor many years ago. She also played the violin in her younger years. A lovely lady who has touched so many lives in her 99 years. She will be so very missed by all who knew and loved her. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Mounds Cemetery at Mounds, Oklahoma with Chaplain Roger Miller officiating. Interment will follow next to her husband, Raymond. She is survived by her children, Richard Brown of Pryor, OK Donna St. John of Pryor, OK Larry and wife, Jane Brown of Sterling, VA; three grandsons, Matt St. John of Broken Arrow, OK Mark St. John of Pryor, OK David Brown of Fairfax, VA, three great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and two special friends, Jeannie Ball and Roberta Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. Brown; her parents, Travis and Martha Cowan; her four brothers, six sisters and one granddaughter, Tammy Hicks.
