Lillian Alexander

December 19, 1930 — January 6, 2011

Lillian Edna (Sullivan) Alexander, 80, of Spavinaw, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2011. She was born on December 19, 1930 in Eudora, Mississippi, the daughter of Benjamin and Lillian Sullivan. She attended both Clark College and the University of Houston. Lillian lived a life of giving, to her family, to her church and to the two careers she embraced: teaching and civil service through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. She married the love of her life, Joy Alexander on May 3, 1952. Together they taught their children the meaning of love, grace and commitment and what a marriage should be. She will be so very missed by all who knew and loved her. A Memorial Service will be held celebrating her life at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 8, 2011 in the Spavinaw-Salina United Methodist Church in Spavinaw, Oklahoma. She will be interred in the Alexander Cemetery in Leggett, Texas at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. Lillian is survived by her husband, Joy Alexander, as well as, her children and their families, Byron and Helga Alexander and son, Hunter; Keith Alexander and daughter, Brandy and sons, Jeffery, Johnny and Austin; Penny and Randy Edwards; Rodney and Shanon Alexander and sons, Byron and Robert Kennedy; Cindy and Tim Mann and daughter, Nicole and son, Evan; and three great grandchildren.
