Oleta Mona (Richardson) Longmire, 95, passed peacefully into the Glory of her Lord on April 30, 2012 surrounded by her family. Oleta was born on July 10, 1916 to William Alexander and Earmel Pearl (Flynn) Richardson in Minturn, Arkansas. She graduated high school from Carter 9, Ok in 1934 and attended college in Edmond. She and her family then moved to Langley in 1937. Her family owned the first grocery store, café, bait house, Movie Theater, and boarding house in Langley. Their boarding house was home to the Grand River Dam construction workers. There she met W.H. Longmire and they were married September 16, 1940 in Baton Rouge, LA. They had 4 children with whom they travelled the world, as they followed large construction jobs. She was a long - time substitute teacher at Ketchum School. In the 60's, she worked at Eastern State hospital in Vinita, as a librarian, where she set up the facility library on the Dewey Decimal System. After retirement, she was active in her church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir. She enjoyed fishing, singing with her family, and bowled until her mid 80's. Oleta will always be remembered for her witty sense of humor, her strong alto voice, stories of her childhood and world travels, and always beating her children and grandchildren at Trivial Pursuit. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.H. Longmire, and her son, W.H. Longmire, Jr. 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 Great Granddaughter. Survivors include 3 daughters: Sonia Epperson and husband, Bob, of rural Vinita, Mona Forrest and husband, Jim, of Pryor, and Betty Showler and husband, Bob, of Vinita. 1 Brother, Monty Richardson and wife, Florita, of Seward, AK. Grandchildren include: Cindy Pollet John Epperson, of rural Vinita, Paula Kennedy, of Pryor, Brad Butler Travis Butler of Tulsa, Freddy Griffin, Tamara Carter, and Ben Showler of Vinita, Denver Griffin of Catoosa, Robert Showler of Broken Arrow, Nichole Taylor of Opelika, Alabama, and Dani Longmire of Pensacola Harlan Longmire of Grove, Jim Forrest, Jr of Florida, Jodee Forrest of Durant and Jeff Forrest of Durant. She has 32 Great- grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all her family. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Pryor, at 2pm on Thursday, May 3, 2012 with Dr. Mike Cox officiating. Interment will be in the Ghormley Cemetery with Brad Butler, Travis Butler, Denver Griffin, Ben Showler, John Epperson and Harland Longmire serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Tyler Epperson, Scott Kennedy and Mike Richardson. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
