Albert Wofford Sr.

Albert Charles Wofford, Sr., 88, of Pryor, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on July 2, 1929 in Rose, Oklahoma; the son of James and Nancy (Canoe) Wofford. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army and after being honorably discharged, he went to work for Phillips 66 Pipe. He married Lena Sue Scuggins on September 4, 1952 in Miami, Oklahoma and together they raised 6 children. Albert enjoyed the outdoors, going hunting, and crawdad gigging. Albert enjoyed art work and wood carving. He also enjoyed sports, especially when it came to watching the Oklahoma Sooners and Oklahoma City Thunder. He was a member of Little Rock Baptist Church, he loved his Lord and enjoyed going to Church. Albert also was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation and was recognized as a Cherokee National Treasure for his woodcarving and gig making. Albert loved people, visiting, and fellowship. He enjoyed each moment he spent with his family. He leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Little Rock Indian Baptist Church in Locust Grove with Reverend Albert Wofford officiating. Burial will follow at Little Rock Indian Cemetery with David King, Richard Wofford, Caleb Wofford, Joshua Wofford, Alex Wofford, and Christopher Wofford as casket bearers. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Valerie King, John Wofford Kimberly King, Nicole Bark, Paige Wofford, and Cassie Summerfield. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Albert is survived by sons, Michael Wofford, Sr. and wife Sharon of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Harold Wofford of Peggs, Oklahoma, Gerald Wofford of Peggs, Oklahoma, and Albert Wofford, Jr. and wife Teresa of Pryor, Oklahoma; daughter, Victoria Woodruff and husband Joe of Pryor, Oklahoma; brother, Robert Wofford of Salina, Oklahoma; sisters, Betty Cabrera of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Maxine Gaddis of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; 21 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lena Wofford, son, Greg Wofford, Sr., brother, Joe Wofford, 2 sisters, Katie Backwater and Nellie Wickliffe; and 3 grandsons, Michael Wofford, Jr., Greg Wofford, Jr., Joseph Wofford.
