Barbara Handlen

Barbara May Handlen, 80, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Southcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born Sept. 19, 1929 in LaGrange County Indiana, the daughter of Mark and Inza Jane (Notestien) Pant. She graduated from Kendallville High School in Kendallville, Indiana. Barbara worked 26 years in real estate in San Antonio, TX, retiring in 2001 and moving to Pryor, Oklahoma. She worked five years at Lincoln Elementary assisting Mrs. Careyé��â‚â„�s second grade class with their reading. Many children loved reading to Granny Barbara. She was a member of the First Christian Presbyterian Church in Pryor. Barbara was only the second woman in one hundred years to serve as Noble Grand of Pryor Creek Odd Fellows Lodge #70. She currently served the lodge as a lodge deputy. Barbara was a lovely, caring lady who will be so very missed by everyone who knew and loved her. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2009 in the First Christian Presbyterian Church in Pryor, Oklahoma. The family suggests memorials be made to the First Christian Presbyterian Church Building Fund. She is survived by daughters Vicki Rush of Pryor and Nancy Davis-Gannon of San Antonio, TX, daughter-in-law Jane Davis of Bronson, MI, grand daughters Barbara Shade and husband Eric of Tulsa, OK, Emily Davis of Bronson MI, grandsons Chris Ferrell and wife Karen of Pryor, OK, Jason Davis and wife Jocelyn of Bronson, MI, Chad Davis and wife Stacy of Bronson, MI, Adam Davis and wife Sarah of Atlanta, GA, great grandsons Tyler Bible and wife Whitley of Sapulpa, OK, Jeremy Bible of Tulsa , Christopher Lutsko of Tulsa, OK, John Stafford II of Pryor, OK, Talon Ray Ferrell of Pryor, OK, Derrick McCoullah of San Antonio, TX, great granddaughters, Haley Davis, Harlee Davis, Hilary Davis, Rose Davis, Hannah Davis of Bronson, MI, Lillie and Grace Davis of Atlanta, GA. Samantha Duncan of San Antonio, TX, great great granddaughter Lillianna Castro of San Antonio, TX. Many nieces and nephews and thousands of wonderful friends! She is preceded in death by son Mark L. Davis; daughters Patsy Jo Shaffer, Kathy J. Bryant; husband Arthur Handlen; sisters, Blanche Dauberman and Joann Pilson; two grandchildren, Rebecca McCoullah and Billy Gene Davis.
