Barbara McKinney

Barbara Gayle (Ivey) McKinney, 82, of Claremore, Oklahoma, formerly of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on October 19, 2017 at her home with family at her side. She was born to the late Earl and Helen Ivey of Pryor, Oklahoma on September 29, 1935 in Sentinel, Oklahoma. Barbara graduated from Pryor High School in 1954. She married Gene McKinney, her husband of 62 years in 1955. As a military wife, she lived in many states and spend three years in Italy. Barbara brought her creativity, caring nature and leadership skills to her term as president of the Elkettes. As an active Red Hatter, she enjoyed sharing her love of life. Her hobbies included RV trips with family and many crafts activities. A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, who leaves behind many wonderful memories for all to cherish.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the Shipman's Funeral Chapel with Reverend K.E. Gerhart officiating. She is survived by her husband, Gene McKinney; children, Dale Brown of Olympia, WA, Dean McKinney and wife, Kathy, of McGregor, TX and Tanya Beaven and husband, Brian of Claremore, OK; sister, Donna Ivy of Escondido, CA; three grandchildren, Monica Beaven of Claremore, OK, Travis Beaven of Claremore, OK and Russell McKinney of Flint, MI; three great grandchildren, Raelyn Judy, Bokerah Beaven, and Kellie Judy, all of Claremore, OK; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her son, Kelly McKinney.
