Betsy Nutter

Betsy Louise Nutter, 70, of Salina, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at her home in Salina, Oklahoma. She was born on December 17, 1940 in Claremore, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lloyd Kingfisher and Mary Ann (Pickup) Kingfisher. She married Richard Nutter in 1960 in Mayes County, Oklahoma. She worked for the Cherokee Nation in their Head Start Program as their cook. Betsy was a member of the Salina First Indian Baptist Church. She loved her Lord and her church family. She enjoyed singing and going to church. Betsy was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family. She was a lovely lady of faith who loved her Lord and her family with all her heart. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Salina, Oklahoma with Reverend Lorne Beck and Reverend Bridge Chuckluck officiating. Interment will be in the McClain Cemetery at Locust Grove, Oklahoma with Robbie Steward, Stephen Leach, Bobby Joe Leach, Keith Lacy Nutter, Ryan Nutter and Tony Robbins serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Buddy Ross, Homer Leach and Mary Leach. A Wake Service will be held on Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. in the Shipman Funeral Chapel. Betsy is survived by her husband, Richard of the home; her sons, Homer and wife, Bobby Leach of Salina, OK and Randy Nutter of Pryor, OK; her daughters, Gwendolyn and husband, Robert Steward Jr. of Salina, OK, Vivian Leach of Salina, OK, Vicki Thomas of Fresno, CA, Ronda Deaton of Tahlequah, OK, Jeanette Fulton of Oregon; her brother, Tony Robbins of Tahlequah, OK; her sisters, Betty Barnes of Caney, OK and Cecelia Chuckluck of Chouteau, OK; 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Mary Ann Kingfisher; her son, Bryan Nutter in 2003; two brothers, Roy and Kenneth Pickup and a baby sister, Barbara Pickup.
