Betty Jo Arthurs

Betty Jo Arthurs, a beloved soul whose presence brightened the lives of all who knew her, has peacefully passed away on July 7, 2024, at her home in Salina. Born on June 22, 1942, in Claremore, Oklahoma, she lived a life filled with a passion for reading, the thrill of visiting the casino, the joy of playing bingo, and the excitement of watching baseball and basketball games. Her spiritual journey led her to the Blue Springs Church, where she found peace and community. Betty married Perry Arthurs on December 31, 1965, creating a bond that was as enduring as it was inspiring. Through the years, Betty found fulfillment in various roles - as a dedicated home health aide extending comfort and care to those in need, as a diligent worker at Simmons Chicken Plant, and as a compassionate teacher's aide at Salina Public Schools nurturing young minds and hearts. Betty Jo Arthurs will always be remembered for her kindness, her infectious laughter, and her unwavering love for her family. 

She is survived by her loving daughter, Dina Giles and husband Jeremy of Salina, Oklahoma; brother, Robert Cochran and wife Kathy of Chouteau, Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Nellie (King) Cochran; husband, Perry Arthurs; son, Perry Dee "Bo" Arthurs, Jr.; daughter, Gaye Cochran; brothers, Bill and Wesley Cochran; sisters, Eunice Backward, Marion Smith, Laurine Willman and Lee Ann Davis. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Betty’s niece, Elizabeth Patton, Bobby Gaskin, Jr., and Mary Tyler for their love and care for Betty in her final days. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Blue Springs Church in Salina with Reverend Lorne Beck officiating. Burial will follow in the Ross Mayes Cemetery.
