Betty Lou Brixey, 89, of Big Cabin, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at her home. She was born on October 29, 1930 in Pryor, Oklahoma; the daughter of Andy and Pearl (Clayton) Jones. She married Howard Brixey on June 18, 1948 and they were married 54 years until his passing in 2002. Betty worked in the home most of her life, raising their 5 children. She also helped Howard tend to the farm, and even learned to drive the milk truck and got her CDL license. She also loved to sew, garden and enjoyed canning what she picked from her garden. Her family fondly remembers her “nannyisms,” which were all her words and phrases she had for many things. She was a member of the Pensacola Freewill Baptist. Her greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves behind many wonderful memories for her family to cherish.
A Celebration of Life for Betty will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2020 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Dave Talle and John Mozingo officiating. Betty is survived by her son, Tony Brixey and girlfriend, Becky Isaacson of Pensacola, Oklahoma; daughters, Shirley Mann and husband Ed Brewer of Baxter Springs, Kansas, Virginia Gibson of Pensacola, Oklahoma, Barbara Morrison and husband JR of Pryor, Oklahoma, and Rita Mozingo and husband John of Salina, Oklahoma; brothers, JR Jones and wife Marcie of Pryor, Oklahoma and Bill Jones of Adair, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren, Brian Mann, Michael Mann, Chris Morrison, Justin Morrison, Nick Morrison, Daniel Morrison, John Kerr, Candy Kerr, Shonna Kerr, Jenny Carrillo, Jessica Rousseau, Tony Lynn Meeker, and Tamara Miller; 29 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard, infant daughter, Nancy Sue; grandson, Josh Mozingo, Son in Law, Mark Gibson, granddaughter, Kaylee Morrison, parents, Andy and Pearl Jones, brothers, Paul, Leroy and Dannie Jones; and 3 sisters, Jewell Wyrick, Mabel Jones and Ruby Jones.
