Bill Ray Due, 87, of Pryor, passed away on December 31, 2022 in the Claremore Veterans Center. He was born on April 30, 1935 in Pryor, Oklahoma; the son of William Luther and Mary Alice (Pemberton) Due. Bill faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from January 1955 until being honorably discharged in January 1957. After his discharge, he married Phyllis Jones on June 22, 1957 and until her death had celebrated 63 years of marriage. Together, they had 6 children, Patty, Allen, Sissy, Billy, Danny, and Lori. He was a lifelong member of the IBEW. He built power lines in Arizona, Utah, and the Western United States. He returned to Oklahoma in 1975 and started working and retired from PSO. Bill enjoyed traveling in his camper, playing pool at the Sertoma Senior Center, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Pryor Church of Christ and looked forward to attending services there. In his later years, he moved to the Claremore Veterans Center, where he enjoyed playing dominoes and riding his mobile wheelchair, until he was banned for speeding around the hallways. He leaves behind many memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2023 in the Pryor Church of Christ with Brother D.J. Castoe officiating. Burial will follow in the Graham Memorial Cemetery with Jacob Littlefield, Dustin Finney, James Dixon, Colton Due, Raymond Due, and Rebecca Hulse serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Shipman’s Funeral Home. Bill is survived by his son, Danny Due of Pryor, Oklahoma; daughters, Iva “Sissy” Hulse and husband John of Pryor, Oklahoma and Lori DeSautell and husband Denny of Pryor, Oklahoma; and sisters, Maxine Evans of Phoenix, Arizona and Marlene Lindhorst of Chouteau, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Alice Due; wife, Phyllis Due; sons, Allen Ray Due and Billy Wayne Due; daughter, Patty Lynn Clawson; 6 brothers and 1 sister.
