Bill Joe Hammock, 71, of Claremore, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019 at his home. He was born on June 21, 1947 in Stigler, Oklahoma; the son of Herman and Bertha (Stephens) Hammock. Bill faithfully served his country in the United States Airforce and served for 24 years, earning the rank of First Master Sergeant. He married Lindia Spicer on March 25, 1967 in Whitefield, Oklahoma and had been married for almost 52 years. Bill enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, gardening, and wood working in his shop. Bill also looked forward to going golfing three times per week, teaching Ethan to golf, and weekend trips with his wife, Lindia, when he wasn’t spending time outdoors, he enjoyed watching golf on television and OU Sooners football. Bill attended New Life Baptist Church and was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 7, 2019 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Brian Hammock, Brody Hammock, Brady Hammock, Casper McConnell, Hughie Gragg, and Chris Gragg serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Ethan Weeks and Hudson Weeks. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2019 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel. Bill is survived by his wife, Lindia Hammock of the home; son, Brian Hammock and wife Dorie of Verdigris, Oklahoma; daughter, Joe’l McConnell and husband Casper of Claremore, Oklahoma; brother, Ricky Hammock and wife Julie of Muskogee, Oklahoma; sister, Karen Monks and husband Bruce of Ardmore, Oklahoma; special sister, Shirley Cordle of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; sister in law, Mary Bath Hammock of Chouteau, Oklahoma; brother in law, Fred Russell of Inola, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Bertha Hammock, brother, Archie Hammock, sisters, Janie Hammock and Doris Russell, and brother in law, Glyn Cordle.
