Billie Dobbs

Billie Ray Dobbs, 89, of Pryor, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on September 20, 1929 in Highfill, Arkansas; the son of Oscar H. and Leta Mae (Chiles) Dobbs. He worked as a supervisor at Sun Oil for many years. He married the love of his life, Patty Jane, on September 8, 1958 in Rogers, Arkansas. Billie served as a Deacon for over 60 years, serving at First Baptist Church in Pryor for over 29 years. He was ordained in California on May 1950. He enjoyed working woodworking and making furniture and looked forward to going hunting and fishing when he was able. Billie was a man of God, a wonderful father and loving friend who leaves behind many memories for his family and friends to cherish.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2018 in the First Baptist Church in Pryor with Doctor Mike Cox. Burial will follow in the Elm Springs Cemetery in Elm Springs, Arkansas with Denny Holden, Bob Clapper, Bob Suiter, Joe Arric, Larry Lees, Glenn Trimble serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers Nelson Devers, Monroe Sullivan, George Tipton, Paul Statham, Bill Hatfield, Bobby Holden and Clifton Collins.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2018 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel. Billie is survived by his son, Donald Dobbs of Pryor, Oklahoma; daughter, Linda Worley of Pryor, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren, Melissa Garner of Pryor, Oklahoma, Jennifer Holeman of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and Bobby Dobbs of Wichita, Kansas; 2 great grandchildren; Denny and Taylor Holden of Pryor, Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Leta May Dobbs, wife, Patty Jane Dobbs, in – laws, Arthur and Bess Kelly, and brother and sister in law, Wayne and Wilma Dobbs.
