Billy Joe Bowling, 88, of Pryor, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, in Tulsa. He was born on June 29, 1933 in St. Louis, Oklahoma; the son of Ernest and Bertha (Griffith) Bowling. Billy faithfully served his country in the United States Airforce and served between 1954 and 1958. He married the love of his life, Mary Ruth, on December 27, 1955 and celebrated 66 years of marriage before her passing in March. Billy loved to go golfing and spend time outdoors. Billy was an ordained deacon through the Southern Baptist Church and was a man strong faith. He also looked forward to watching sports, especially when it came to OU football. He leaves behind many memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 23, 2022 in the Graham Memorial Cemetery with Joel and Kevin Bowling serving as honorary casket bearers. Billy is survived by his sons, Joel Bowling and wife Donna of Pryor, Oklahoma and Kevin Bowling and wife Jo Ann of Chouteau, Oklahoma; daughter, Christine Chaney and husband Jerry of Sierra Vista, Arizona; brothers, Tex Bowling and wife Dorothy of Pryor, Oklahoma and Tom Bowling and wife Ann of Temple, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Bertha Bowling, wife, Mary Bowling; and siblings, Tincy Wright, Bob Bowling, Edith Bowling, Mary Lea Howell, Earnest (Bert) Bowling, Jimmy Bowling, Johnny Bowling, and LeeRoy Bowling.
