Bob Maddux

Bob Maddux, 78, of Pryor, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on November 30, 1937 in Oologah, Oklahoma; the son of Clarence and Irene (Littrell) Maddux. Bob faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corp and after being honorably discharged, returned home to work for the Lone Star Cement Plant as the Chief Chemist. In July 1958, he married, Evelyn Endsley, and from that marriage, they adopted a daughter, Stacey Lynn Maddux. On September 5, 1981, Bob married Betty Lane Minnix in Pryor, Oklahoma. Bob was a huge OU fan and enjoyed watching them play. He was a wonderful craftsman, working with wood and making curio cabinets; he was always working on a project. Bob was a member of the 1st Free Will Baptist Church in Pryor and looked forward to attending services and church events. He also was known around Pryor as "Coach" to many; as he was a little league baseball coach for many years. He also referred many ball games. Most of all, Bob looked forward to spending time with family; Christmastime was his favorite, with all the children coming home to spend the holidays with him. They would also have big birthday celebrations with the family. He will lovingly be remembered as Pa Pa "Whitehair." Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in the 1st Freewill Baptist Church in Pryor with Reverend Ray Gwartney and Reverend Rusty Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery with Randy Minnix, Gregg Minnix, Justin James, Barney Watkins, Jim Knox, and Josh Hicks serving as casket bearers. Honorary Casket bearers will be Scott Rice, Johnny Maddux, Ray Maddux, and J.E. Casey. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Bob is survived by his wife, Betty Maddux of the home; sons, Randy Minnix and wife Barbara of Stevensville, Michigan and Gregg Minnix and wife Lori of Pryor, Oklahoma; daughter, Ronda Rice and husband Scott of Pryor, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren, Jason Stricklin, Robin Stanley, Justin James, Stacy Hicks, Parker and Carson Minnix, and Bethany and Macy Minnix; 9 great grandchildren; and 3 nephews, Johnny Maddux, Ray Maddux, Barney Watkins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Irene Maddux, his first wife, Evelyn Maddux, daughter, Stacey Maddux, brother, Tim Maddux, and sisters, Laura Watkins and Patsy Ruth Maddux.
