Bobby Gene Sanderson, beloved husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa, passed away on April 17, 2023. He was 90 years old.
Bob was born on April 4, 1933, in Boynton, Oklahoma. He graduated from Bakersfield High School in California with the Class of 1951. Bob served wartime duty in the U.S. Air Force's 96th Air Refueling Squadron during the Korean War from 1952-1956. Following his honorable discharge on December 30, 1959, Bob married the love of his life, Ruth Alice Warren, on January 24, 1960. Bob began his career at Giumarra Vineyards in Bakersfield, California as a foreman. In 1973, he and his family moved to Adair, Oklahoma, where he continued to work as an electrician journeyman for several years at A A Electric & Plumbing Inc in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He later retired from the Mayes County Barn in Adair, Oklahoma. After retirement, Bob enjoyed spending time building various things, being outside, doing yard work, and camping at Robber's Cave.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Bobbie Martin and husband Alva of Adair, Oklahoma; son, Jimmy Sanderson and wife Pam of Big Cabin, Oklahoma; daughter, Mary Sanderson of Adair, Oklahoma; brother, Gerald Sanderson of Neosho, Missouri; sister, Loretta Ford and husband Jack of Oregon; grandchildren, Josh Martin and fiancé Tracy Wilkerson of Bluejacket, Oklahoma; Jerrod Martin and wife Natalie of Adair, Oklahoma; Tamara Purdom and husband Trey of Claremore, Oklahoma; Emily Peters and husband Thomas of Chicago, Illinois; Brooke Spence and husband James of Plano, Texas; Sabrina Matheson of Big Cabin, Oklahoma; Ashley Fisher and husband David of Catoosa, Oklahoma; and 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Sanderson; parents, Edward Dee Sanderson and Ollie Mae Kimbrell; brothers, James Edward Sanderson and Truman Dwayne Sanderson.
Bob will always be remembered for his loving nature, devotion to his family, and his hardworking spirit. No formal services have been planned, but his family would like to thank those who have expressed their condolences and support during this difficult time.
