Brooks Ledbetter

Arthur Brooks Ledbetter Jr., known affectionately as Brooks, passed away on January 8, 2024, at the age of 83 in his hometown of Pryor, Oklahoma. He was born on September 8, 1940, to Arthur and Effie Ledbetter. Deeply mourned by his family and friends, Brooks leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and a passion for life. From an early age, Brooks exhibited a strong work ethic and pursued a successful career at the Lonestar Cement Plant. His career led him to attend and graduate from Okmulgee Tech. He dedicated 35 years of his life to the company before retiring. Outside of work, Brooks enjoyed an active and fulfilling life. He had a deep love for animals and spent his days raising cattle. His passion for nature extended to hunting and fishing, pursuits that brought him great joy and relaxation. Additionally, he actively participated in the Bedouin Shrine and cherished attending parades with fellow members. In the wake of his passing, Brooks is fondly remembered by his loving wife Norma Ledbetter, of the home; sons Steven and Matthew Ledbetter of Pryor; cherished sister Mary Higgs of Pryor; and beloved grandchildren Erin Ledbetter and Seth Ledbetter, both residing in Pryor. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Effie Ledbetter; and sisters, Margaret King and Amanda Denny. Brooks will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His legacy will forever echo through the memories shared with family, friends, and colleagues alike. May he find eternal peace.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2024, at the First Christian Presbyterian Church in Pryor with Reverend Anna Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow at Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor with Zack Lanning, Kenney Lanning, Jeff Helmuth, Jeffrey Helmuth, Chris King, and Bruce Sheets serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers include Charlie Dryden, Marcuse Littlefield, Doug Robertson, Mark Murray, and Rick Elliott. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Shipman's Funeral Home in Pryor. Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman's Funeral & Cremation Service of Pryor.
