Burris Caldwell

March 26, 1937 — December 21, 2018

Burris Washington Caldwell, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 21, 2018 at his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.  He was born on March 26, 1937, the son of Hubert Byran Caldwell and Virgie Wenona (Harden) Caldwell.  He married Mary Childress on August 10, 1957 and made a wonderful life together.  Burris retired from AT&T after 35 years of service.  Later working for H&R Block and Coldwell Banker.  The last 18 years he had worked at Wal-Mart.  Burris was a faithful member of the South Mission Church for the last 26 years.  He served in the capacity of Adult Sunday School Teacher, Board Member and Secretary Treasurer.  Burris was a handyman and could fix anything.  He was a quiet yet wise man, versed in almost any subject you wished to discuss.  He dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren.  Burris is now in the arms of his loving Savior whom he has served all these years.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the House of Prayer with Reverends Daryl Brewer, Bill Parks and Leon Rich officiating.  Interment will be at 2 p.m. in the Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma with Pete Hash, Eugene Renfro, Jim Ragsdale, Anthony Brewer, Aaron Brewer and Burris Shultz serving as casket bearers.  The family will receive friends at the House of Prayer on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m.  To leave a personal message to his family, please see his Tribute at www.shipmansfuneralhome.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman’s Funeral & Cremation Service.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; daughters, Rhonda and husband Greg Shultz of Broken Arrow, OK, Terry and husband, Mark Brewer of Broken Arrow, and Pam Fox of Broken Arrow, OK; sister, Earla Anderson of Tulsa, OK; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Virgie Caldwell Blevins Duke; twin brother, William Mont Caldwell; stepfather, Earl Blevins.
