Carrol Statum, 95, of Chouteau passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016 in Chouteau, Oklahoma. He was born on March 30, 1921 in Van Buren, Arkansas; the son of William Douglas Statum and Gladys Poston. In the mid twenties, when Carrol was just a young boy, his family packed up in a wagon pulled by two mules to go to Magum, Oklahoma to pick cotton and then by fall they moved back to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Carrol attended school. Carrol married Madeleane Froese at the Eden Mennonite Church on May 3, 1942 and then moved to the Mayes county area in 1945. He enjoyed reading and helping people in any way he could. He also looked forward to spending time outdoors, especially when he was fishing or going to the creek. He leaves behind many memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Carrol is survived by his three grandsons, Stephen and wife Tish Bradshaw of Chouteau, Oklahoma which also took care of him for the last three years, Brandon Bradshaw of Muskogee, Todd and wife Heather of Ft. Worth Texas; daughter, Mary Muse of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nephews, Carrol (Hillbilly) Statum of Chouteau; Jr and Angela Statum of Tulsa; Neice, Terri and Gary Shelton of Chelsea, OK; and numerous great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Gladys Statum and stepdad, Horace Statum; Wife, Madeleane Statum; daughter, Christy Bradshaw; brother, Art Statum and sister n law, Donna Statum.
