Cecil Austin

Cecil Ray Austin, 76, of Claremore, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at his home in Claremore. He was born on October 19, 1940 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma; the son of George and Agnes (Milholland) Austin. Cecil faithfully served his country from 1961 - 1966 in the United States Army and National Guard. He married the love of his life, Jo Ann McFarland on September 7, 1960 in Nowata, Oklahoma. Cecil enjoyed working on his property, enjoyed walking around the lake, fishing, gardening, collecting arrowheads, hunting and was a very sharp shooter. He loved visiting with friends and family and spending time with those he loved the most. He was very hard working and was a delight to be with, loved to laugh and joke around, (very onry) always positive and lived life to the fullest. He has shared many memories for his family and friends to hold dear to and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 11, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Junior Mullin officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery with full Military Honors with Ricky Swinney, Ray Swinney, Cody Miller, Christopher Austin, Gauge Austin and Austin Swinney serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Mark Walden, Brian Austin, Levi Swaggart, Jordan Walden and Aden Austin. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 10, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Cecil is survived by his wife, JoAnn Austin of the home; son, Brian Ray Austin and wife Michelle of Claremore, Oklahoma; daughters, Jerri Ann Swinney and husband Rick of Claremore, Oklahoma, Terri Lynn Swaggart and husband Ben of Oregon, Kathleen Sue Austin of Claremore, Oklahoma, Angela Lee Austin of Claremore, Oklahoma; brothers, Eddie Austin and wife Cathy of Salina, Oklahoma ,Jimmy Austin of Claremore, Oklahoma, Marvin Austin of Claremore, Oklahoma, Morris Austin and wife Sherry of Alluwe, Oklahoma; sisters, Linda Sutherland of Alluwe, Oklahoma, Jean Husky of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Agnes Austin; grandchild, Melissa Leann Walden; sisters, Shirley, Carol and Francis; brothers, Gerald Austin and Wayne Austin.
