Cecil Lane Jr.

Cecil 'Sonny' Lee Lane,Jr., 74, of Strang, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The oldest of four children, he was born on March 13, 1938 in Strang, Oklahoma, the son of Cecil Lane Sr. and Myrtle (Thomas) Lane. Cecil graduated from Strang High School in 1956. Cecil lived and worked for many years in Tulsa where he worked for Yuba Heat and later owned his own lawn care business. He married Donna Shelton and began a wonderful life together. They moved from Tulsa to Strang. Cecil was a 32nd Degree Master Mason. He was a member of the Spavinaw Hills House of Worship in Spavinaw, Oklahoma. Cecil loved tractors and especially his new Kubota tractor. He enjoyed working around the house and even remodeling their house himself. He enjoyed restoring furniture. Cecil especially loved the time he spent with his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be so very missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in the Spavinaw Hills House of Worship in Spavinaw, Oklahoma with Reverends Tobe and Doris Sperry officiating. Interment will be in the Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery with Gary Turner, Ken Newby, Greg Gregory, Larry Jones, Wayne Brady and Robin Western serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Otis Newby and Joshua Laplant. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Monday evening. He is survived by his wife, Donna of the home; his son, Jimmy Dale Lane of Tulsa, OK; his daughter, Cindy Lee "Lane" Stone and husband, Brian and their children, Adam and Jordan, all of Woodward, OK; his brother, Bob Lane of Pryor, OK; his sister, Betty Maddux and husband, Bob of Pryor, OK; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Lane Sr. in 1959 and Myrtle Lane in 2011; his brother, Jerry Don Lane in 2004; his maternal grandparents, James and Mattie Thomas.
