Charles D. Bowling, 81, of Chelsea, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2019 in Pryor. He was born on November 9, 1938 in Cape Fair, Missouri; the son of Clyde and Lena (Asher) Bowling. Charles married Beverly Mae Turner, and spent 46 years together until her passing in 2007. After some time had passed, he went on to marry Betty Marie Brookshier. Charles worked for many years at Rae Corporation in Pryor in the shipping department. He enjoyed woodworking, especially building birdhouses and watching the birds outside his house. Charles enjoyed traveling and seeing new sights, fishing, watching gun smoke and old western movies, and spending the holidays with his family. He leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2019 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Lorne Beck officiating. Burial will follow in the Bryan Chapel Cemetery in Boatman with David Howell, Kevin Beck, Bobby Bailey, Robert Moore, Dan Hunt, and Chris Meyer serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2019 at Shipman’s Funeral Home. Charles is survived by his wife, Betty Bowling of the home; son, Michael Bowling and wife Rachel of Pryor, Oklahoma; daughter, Penny Bowling of Pryor, Oklahoma; special friends, David and Kathy Howell; step daughters, Vickie Martin and husband Don of Chelsea, Oklahoma and Debbie Sowards and husband Lynn of Claremore, Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 5 step great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lena Bowling, wife, Beverly Bowling and one brother.
