Cherokee Elizabeth Scott, age 9, of Salina, Oklahoma, passed away on December 2, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and adventure that will forever warm the hearts of those who knew her. Cherokee was born on November 9, 2015, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Patricia LeAnn Scuggins. From the moment she entered the world, her vibrant spirit and bright smile brought joy to everyone around her. A student at Wickliffe Elementary, Cherokee was known for her adventurous nature and zest for life. She was a member of Blue Springs Church in Salina, where her faith and love for others shone brightly. Cherokee loved playing with her pets, from cats to puppies, and spent countless happy hours gathering eggs and feeding the chickens. Her creativity was evident in her passion for beading, creating necklaces, and working on diamond art. She cherished her time outdoors, whether catching butterflies with her net, riding carnival rides, or enjoying quiet moments fishing. Always on the move, Cherokee loved riding her bicycle and playing with her beloved nieces and nephews. Her contagious smile and vibrant personality brought sunshine to everyone she met. Cherokee’s favorite colors were pink and purple, a reflection of her bright and joyful spirit. She had a deep love for Mexican and Chinese food. Though her time with us was far too short, Cherokee’s adventurous heart and loving spirit leave a lasting imprint on all who knew her.
Services to honor and celebrate Cherokee’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Blue Springs Church in Salina with Reverend Lorne Beck officiating. Burial will follow in the Grass Cemetery with Jerry Marble, Blaze Marble, Dustin Ingle, Johnny Bark, Charlie Hocutt, and Clayton Cotner serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Shipman's Funeral Home in Pryor. Cherokee is survived by her biological mother, Patricia LeAnn Scuggins; grandparents, Debbie Forehand and Nolan Scuggins and wife Pamela; uncles, Corey Scuggins, Andrew Scuggins, and Gregory Scuggins; cousin, Tyler B. Scuggins; parents, Richard and Marquita "June" Scott; brothers, Joseph Scott and wife Chassey, Darrell Scott, Casey Scott and wife Jessie, Jarod Scott and wife Tori, and Aadon Scott; sister, Tristan Scott; 26 nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
