Christene Rice

Christene Rice, 79, of Antlers, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 in Stroud, Oklahoma. She was born on July 26, 1940 in Salina, Oklahoma; the daughter of Ulysses D. and Lillie (Boan) Gilliland. Christene married Larry Lee Alic Rice on June 14, 1963 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She worked as an Executive Administrator for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services most of her life. Christene enjoyed playing Bingo, card games, and sewing. She looked forward to any time she could spend with her family and cherished each moment she had with them. She was of the Baptist faith and was loved by many.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2019 in the Ross – Mayes Cemetery in Salina with Pastor Andy Pilant officiating. Casket Bearers will be Bill Gilliland, JA Gilliland, Kaleb Moore, and Tommy Moore. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m, Friday, September 13, 2019 at Shipman’s Funeral Home. Christene is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Rice – Moore and husband Tommy of Dallas, Texas; step sons, Terry Rice of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Russell Rice of Owasso, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren, Kristen Moore of Dallas, Texas, Kaleb Moore of Dallas, Texas, and Kathryn Moore of Dallas, Texas; 3 step – grandchildren, Russel, Lucas and Stevie Rice; 2 brothers, James A. Gilliland of Oklahoma and Bill Gilliland of Oklahoma; 4 sisters, Georgia Goyer of Mississippi, Mary Frances of Oklahoma, Daisy Samuel of Oklahoma, and Nettie Long of Texas; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ulysses and Lillie Gilliland; ex – husband, Larry Rice; brother Gerald Gilliland and sisters, Pauline Blaylack and Louise Frank.
