Christina Horton

Christina "Cricket" D. Horton, 66, of Salina, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 in Salina, Oklahoma. She was born on November 5, 1948 in Garnett, Kansas; the daughter of William M. Wells, Jr. and Bonnie M. (Borror) Wells. Cricket worked as a Rural Route Carrier for the United States Postal Service for 22 years and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 25 years. She married Leroy Horton on August 20, 1984 in Langley, Oklahoma. Cricket was an animal lover, especially dogs and cats. She enjoyed holidays, but looked forward to Halloween the most. She would dress up every year as something different. Cricket loved the outdoors, and enjoyed camping in Colorado and spending time with her family. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 12, 2014 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Lorne Beck officiating. Interment will follow in the Ghormley Cemetery in Pensacola, Oklahoma with Tyler Hamilton, Gabriel Horton, James Tracy, Damon Sitsler, Bobby Babcock, Jr., and Steven Heinze serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Bobby Babcock, Sr., Mike Rogers, and Dub Hargrove. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2014 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Cricket is survived by her sons, Stacy and wife Theresa Tracy of Colcord, Oklahoma and Shannon and wife Linda Jo Horton of Pryor, Oklahoma; daughter, Mary Jo Wyre of Salina, Oklahoma; sisters, Phyllis and husband Charles Grim of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Laura and husband Mike Sly of Chouteau, Oklahoma, and Sherri and husband Les Dannels of Miami, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Bonnie Wells, her husband, Leroy Horton, 3 grandchildren, Tasha Garrison Hamilton, Stephanie Dawn Tracy and Cory James Tracy; brothers, Marrion Lee Wells, William "Billy" Wells, III, and Larry Dale Wells.
