Christopher Dale Benefield, 52, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away at his home suddenly in his mother's arms on Sunday, May 15, 2016. He was born on July 10, 1963 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is the son of Jane Wood and Carol D. "Woody" Wood of Pryor, Oklahoma. Chris received his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from the University of Oklahoma where he maintained a 4.0 GPA. He later that same year received his certificate of Achievement from the McNair Scholars Program in recognition of outstanding dedication to educational aspirations and willingness to pursue doctoral studies. Chris earned his Master's Degree with his thesis on the homeless. He was CEO and President of the nonprofit Omeletking Corporation. Chris loved learning and achieved at a high level but his heart was always with helping the homeless and worked tirelessly in programs to help make their lives better. He worked as an Executive Chef for several major hotels. Chris wrote reviews for the Daily Times. He loved playing golf with his father, Woody. Chris loved the Lord and it showed in his work with others less fortunate. His dedication to others, his love of his Lord and family will always be remembered by those he helped in his life and his family who dearly loved him. His family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Monday evening at 6 p.m. for a celebration of Chris's life. Friends and family may view from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
