Clarence Kingfisher

January 10, 1949 — November 9, 2017

Clarence Kingfisher, 68, of Salina, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 10, 1949 in Salina; the son of Claude and Betty (Pickup) Kingfisher. Clarence attended Salina Schools and then went on to join the United States Army and faithfully served from 1966 until 1969. He was discharged as a Corporal. Clarence went on to marry the love of his life, Thelma Blossom, and they have celebrated 42 years of marriage. He was called to the ministry in 1985; he pastored at St. York in Marlow, Oklahoma, Fairview Baptist Mission in Duncan, Oklahoma, Tyio Baptist in Jay, Oklahoma, Circle of Life Fellowship in Prescott, Arizona, and a member of the Coo - Y - Yah Baptist Church in Pryor, where he retired as a minister after 17 years. Clarence loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and most of all, preaching the gospel and serving the Lord. He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, playing golf, attending family gatherings, and spending time with those he loved most. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, who leaves behind many memories for his family and friends to cherish.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 13, 2017 in the First Baptist Church in Salina with Reverend Stanley Grass and Reverend Richard Budder officiating. Burial will follow in the Grass Cemetery with Jacob Kingfisher, Traiven Kingfisher, Jacob (Earl) Smoke, Josh Smoke, Mickey Kingfisher, and Josh Jumper serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Everett Long, Curtis Kingfisher, Darrian Kingfisher, Maurice Smoke, Buddy Ross, Jim Kingfisher, and Skake Kingfisher. Visitation and wake service will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 12, 2017 in the Coo - Y - Yah Baptist Church in Pryor. Clarence is survived by his wife, Thelma Kingfisher of the home; Daughter, Jennie Rogers of Salina, Oklahoma; sons, Samuel Kingfisher of Salina, Oklahoma and Daniel Kingfisher of Salina, Oklahoma; brothers, Ned Kingfisher of Pryor, Oklahoma, Dale Kingfisher and wife Sally of Kenwood, Oklahoma, William Kingfisher and wife Mary of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Floyd Kingfisher and wife Rhonda of Salina, Oklahoma, and Kevin Kingfisher of Salina, Oklahoma; sister, Alice James of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; aunts, Jennie Ballou and Lou Aline Lewis of Salina, Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Betty Kingfisher; daughters, Diane and Lisa Rogers; son, Kelly Smoke; brother, Mike Kingfisher; sister, Geneva Kingfisher and grandson, Brett Owen Rogers.
