Cleo Hatzenbuehler

Cleo Jacqueliene (Kay) Hatzenbuehler, 88, was born on September 21, 1933 in Strang, Oklahoma to (CB) “Jack” Kay and Violet Kay. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 in Vinita, Oklahoma. She was married to Bill Hatzenbuehler on November 21, 1949. They had 7 children and made their home in Big Cabin. After raising 7 children, she obtained her GED in 1977 at the age of 44 years. She continued her education and graduated in 1981 carrying a 4.0, with a Bachelor of Education Degree with a Major in High School Math and a Minor in Elementary Education. After graduation, she taught at Big Cabin for 10 years and 3 years at Bluejacket before retiring from teaching. She started working part time as a cashier for Wal – Mart but had to leave to be the caregiver for family members. Cleo loved to pencil draw. She enjoyed making her own Christmas and Birthday cards for her family and friends.  Her faith was at the forefront of her life. She loved her church family, family get – togethers, and playing games. She was a wonderful wife, mother, meme and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the First Church of God in Vinita with Pastor Les Scheer II officiating. Burial will follow in the Adair Cemetery with Jay Bible, David Minson, Rick Hensley, Jeff Wood, Charlie Turner, and Kevin McClure serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Wayne Bowie and George Mitchell. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2022 in the Shipman’s’ Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. Cleo is survived by her children, son, Doug Hatzenbuehler and Rickie of Pensacola, Oklahoma, son, Jack Hatzenbuehler and Julie of Cherryvale, Kansas, daughter, Melody and Cecil of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, daughter, Jada Scheer and husband Les I of Big Cabin, Oklahoma, daughter, Tina Day and husband Greg of Pryor, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill Hatzenbuehler, daughter, Tonya Garrett, son, Billy Hatzenbuehler, and grandson, Jonathon Hatzenbuehler.
