Dan Burkhart, 67, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at his home. He was born on June 5, 1947 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Claude Burkhart and Lila (Smail) Burkhart. He faithfully served his Country in the United States Navy. Dan worked for the Sheriff's office as Deputy. He drove Ambulance and was a graduate of the first class of EMT officially trained in Oklahoma. He also served as a volunteer Fireman for Pryor and volunteered for the Civil Defense for many years. Dan was a member of the Elks Lodge, the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Police. Dan worked for over 20 years as Cemetery Sexton for City of Pryor. Dan enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He dearly loved his family and the time spent with them. He will be so very missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the Shipman's Funeral Chapel with Cash Devers officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery with Navy Honors. Casket Bearers will be Justin Bancroft, Braeden Burkhart, Danny Littlefield, Bucky Gilpin, Brian Ball and Nathan Best. He is survived by his son, Scott Burkhart of Pryor, OK; daughters, Lisa and Brian Ball of Pryor, OK and Mechelle Bancroft of Broken Arrow, OK; sister, Ladonne Sweeney and husband, Jim of Broken Arrow, OK and Cathy Umholtz and husband, Earl, of Paul River, KS; five grandchildren, Morgan Burkhart, Justin Bancroft, Braeden Burkhart, Sara Burkhart and Lily Hair; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Claude and Lila Burkhart.
