Danny Lee Hair, born on January 30, 1956, in Claremore, Oklahoma, passed away on August 20, 2023, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. He was a beloved individual who touched the lives of many. Danny led a fulfilling life filled with laughter and love for his family and friends. Danny graduated from Jay High School in 1975. He further pursued his education at trucking school in Northeast Texas Community College and became an accomplished truck driver. Throughout his life, Danny found joy behind the wheel of a semi-truck as he traveled the roads far and wide. Not only was Danny dedicated to his career, but he also took pride in his Cherokee heritage. A first language Cherokee speaker, he cherished his culture and heritage deeply. He thoroughly enjoyed speaking Cherokee, whether it be in everyday conversation and in storytelling. Danny's connection to his roots brought him immense fulfillment as he celebrated and honored his heritage. Among his many interests, swimming and camping at the river or creek held a special place in Danny's heart. Nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by nature's peaceful beauty. His love for country music permeated throughout his life as he attended rodeos and appreciated the twang of a guitar. Whether it be watching wrestling matches or enjoying western movies, Danny found solace in these simple pleasures. Music was not only something to be enjoyed passively for Danny; he actively played the guitar, delighting others with heartfelt melodies of country and bluegrass songs. His talent shone brightly as he strummed away on those strings, captivating listeners with every note. Danny also enjoyed telling stories and visiting with those around him. Taking long drives served as the perfect backdrop for these captivating narratives that kept his family enthralled. In honoring Danny's memory, let us remember to live our lives with the same love and enthusiasm that he did. May he rest in peace as his laughter echoes in our hearts forever. Danny Lee Hair will always be remembered for his warm laughter and zest for life. He lived in a way that brought joy and happiness to those around him. Though he may no longer be with us physically, his spirit will forever remain as a cherished memory in the hearts of all who knew him.
Danny is survived by his son, Walus Hair of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; daughter, Senita Mapps of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; stepsons, Devon, Wesley and Spencer Yazzie all of Utah; stepdaughter, Tana Yazzie of Texas; brother, Lacey Hair of Salina, Oklahoma; sister, Annabelle Hair - Carpenter of Watts, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Nicholas, Jonathon, Alexis, Aidan, Jolahna, Gillian, Brook and Alyssa; and many other relatives and friends. Danny will be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of friends and loved ones. He is preceded in death by wife, Darla Hair, his parents, Ned and Senia Hair; brothers, James and Marvin Hair; and nephew, Stevie Hair.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 28, 2023, in the Blue Springs Church in Salina with Reverend Richard Budder officiating. Burial will follow in the Euwasha Cemetery with Scotty Padget, David Ingle, Steven "Puddin" Ingle, Rob Williams, Steven Woods, and Daniel Allen serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Dennis Phillips, Kialan Daniels, Coburn Killer, Eagle Douglas, Andrew Hair, and Johnny Day. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Shipman's Funeral Home in Pryor.
