David Earl Allison was 78 when he passed on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at his home in Adair, Ok. He was born on January 1, 1940 as a special New Year's gift to his parents David Thompson Allison and Vivian Marie DeLozier Allison. In David's younger years he attended Adair Schools while working with his father constructing roads and highways and helping on his grandfather's ranch. He married the love of his life, Margaret VanBeber, on August 4, 1963 in Shawnee after discovering her at Oklahoma State University. David attended Oklahoma State University, earning his Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Education and a Master's in Agriculture. He graduated from OSU in 1963 and worked as an Ag Teacher in El Dorado Springs, Missouri for 16 years. In 1979, the Allison family moved to Adair where David raised swine and cattle. He worked hauling dirt to create Highway 169 and delivered mail on the weekends. In 1984, David became a middle school science teacher at Adair Public Schools, where he taught for 19 years. He was known as "Mr. A" and made an impact on many young lives. David also used his teaching talents to teach Sunday school for several years at the Adair Methodist Church. He was an avid OSU athletics fan. David loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed holiday gatherings, working in his garden, woodworking, and family sporting events. David will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and teacher.
Funeral services for David will be held on Monday March 19th, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at The United Methodist Church in Adair, Oklahoma with Reverend Dylan Ward and Reverend Vaughn Story officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Adair Cemetery with Drew Duncan, Riley Young, Geoff Kibble, Joe Meaney, Darren DeLozier and Devin DeLozier serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Adin Allison, Dennis DeLozier, Gail Osborn, Russ Langley, John Cramer and Darrell Phillippe. His family will receive friends at the Shipman's Funeral Home in Pryor, Oklahoma from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, March 18th. David is survived by his daughter Aimee and her husband Rick Duncan of New Braunfels, TX, daughter Tiffany and her husband Frank Young of Tulsa, OK, and son Stewart and his wife Kendra Allison of Cypress, TX ; eight grandchildren, Kailey (husband Joe Meaney), Brooke (husband Geoff Kibble), Drew, Riley, Emma, Chase, Sydney and Adin. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret in 2011, his parents David and Vivian Allison and one sister Mildred Peper.
