David William Allsup

David William Allsup, 83, of Adair, Oklahoma, passed away on April 23, 2025, after battling Alzheimer’s for several years.

David was born on January 15, 1942, to John William Allsup and Dorothy Mae Allsup (nee Fry) in Owasso, Oklahoma. After David graduated from Owasso High School in 1960, he went on to study mechanical engineering at Connor’s State College, Oklahoma State University, and Tulsa University.

David was a proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation and a retired US Navy man who served in the Vietnam conflict earning a Bronze Star. In 1964, David married Shirley Ann Allsup (nee Carson). David and Shirley went on to have two boys, Thomas Avery, of Dallas, TX, and Robert William “Bill”, of Stillwater, OK. David’s retirement from his structural engineering profession took him traveling with family and volunteer positions at the Rural Fire Department and Water Board. This was all in addition to him being a lifetime, avid hunter and fisherman. David and Shirley were very involved with the Green Brier Baptist church community.

David was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, brother Lynn Richard and wife Carol, sister Mary Kay Roberts (nee Allsup), sons, Thomas and wife Lynn, Bill and wife Kim, and four grandchildren, Natalie and husband Sam, Kendall, David, and Avery.

Visitation will be held at Shipman’s Funeral Home in Pryor, OK on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. Services will be held at Green Brier Church in Adair OK on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 10AM. Graveside internment will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Owasso, OK, afterwards. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer’s research.
