David Rodney Anderson

David Rodney Anderson, born in Madison, Minnesota on September 29, 1941, passed away in Pryor, Oklahoma on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the age of 82. He was the son of Melvin and Leona (Weber) Anderson. He is remembered with great love and fondness by all those who knew him.

On January 30, 1966, he married the love of his life, Sharon (Tucker) Anderson. They spent close to 57 wonderful years in marriage before her passing in January of 2023. 

David led a remarkable life filled with dedication and service. He spent many years serving in the United States Army, retiring after 20 years of honorable commitment. Throughout his military career, he was recognized with several prestigious medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal.

After his time in the military, David transitioned to a career in maintenance at the Northeast Technology Center. Later, he found joy in remodeling and building decks for members of his community. His craftsmanship and work ethic were admired by all who benefited from his skills.

Outside of work, David's true passion was spending quality time with his family. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was working in the yard, indulging in woodworking projects, or enjoying camping trips. When inside, he enjoyed working puzzles. 

He is survived by his daughter Vickie Gardner of Pryor; Sherina Gibbs and husband Larry of Evans; Carol Acord and husband Jerry of Thomson; brothers Bob Anderson of Taylor Falls and John Anderson and wife Jackie of Sioux Falls; sisters Doris Nelson of Watertown; Lavonne Helkenn and husband Dale of Clark; Donna Runge of Pierre; Linda Butler and husband Ron of Bookings; grandchildren, Larry Gibbs, Ashley Gilreath, Summer Jenca, Christopher Gibbs, Melia Hayes, and Cheyenne Gardner; as well as 7 great-grandchildren.

David is preceded in death by his loving parents Melvin and Leona Anderson, his wife Sharon Anderson, brothers Les Anderson, Don Anderson, Marvin Anderson, and sisters, Lois Gritmacher and Janice Farnham.
