Delores Martin

Delores Jean Roper - Martin, 80, of Pryor, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 in Claremore, Oklahoma. She was born on July 22, 1933 in Kansas City, Kansas; the daughter of Woodrow and Bertha (Olsen) Kincaid. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Donnelly College in Kansas City, Missouri and worked as an R.N. in various hospitals. She married Peter Joseph Roper on February 4, 1956 in Kansas City, Kansas. Several moves led her to Oklahoma, where she was employed at St. John Hospital in Tulsa. When she retired from St. John, she moved to Tahlequah and joined her mother as they became immersed in their Cherokee Indian heritage. Delores eventually joined her daughter and family in Pryor. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Pryor. She was her grandchildren's biggest fan, and especially loved to watch their sporting events. She was an avid reader, and she never met a slot machine she didn't like. She was also extremely proud of her family's military service. She will be remembered by all the wonderful memories she leaves behind and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2014 in the St. Mark Catholic Church in Pryor with Bob Akerman, Steve Letzig, Mike Considine, Will Considine, Christian Considine, and Daniel Considine serving as Pall Bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in the Shipman Funeral Home Chapel. Delores is survived by her daughters, Annette Roper of Nashville, Tennessee and Leslie & husband Michael Considine of Pryor, Oklahoma; sons, Tony and wife Gail Roper of Nashville, Tennessee and Jeffery Roper of Kansas City, Kansas; 8 grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her lifelong love, Peter Roper, parents, Woodrow and Bertha Kincaid, and brother, Fred Kincaid.
