Dolly Lamons

Dolly Everett Lamons, 85, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2009 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on April 3, 1924 in Olathe, Kansas, the daughter of George Everett and Mary Olivia (Fields) Everett. She married Warren Lamons on September 9, 1958 in Duncan, Oklahoma. Dolly had previously lived in the Graham, Lone Grove, Yale areas and in Okmulgee since 1993. She volunteered with the Service Mission Corp through the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention from 1994 to 2000. Dolly cared for 40 foster children through the Baptist Childrené��â‚â„�s Home over the years. She enjoyed collecting state spoons, sewing and gardening. Dolly was a lovely woman of faith with a true servanté��â‚â„�s heart. Her influence will live on in the lives of all of those she touched, especially the children. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Okmulgee First Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Kennedy and Rev. Johnny Leybas officiating. Interment will be in the Haskell Cemetery in Haskell, Oklahoma with Roy Matlock, Harold Adkison, Matthew Lamons, Sgt. Thomas Tenley, Earl Hostetter and Johnny Leybas serving as casketbearers. Serving as honorary casketbearer is Jon McGuire. The family will greet friends and family at 1:00 p.m. at the church before the service. The family asks that memorials be made to the Baptist Village of Okmulgee, 1500 West 6th St., Okmulgee, OK 74447 or the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children at OBHC, 3800 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73112-6506 in Dollyé��â‚â„�s memory. Dolly is survived by her son, Paul L. Lamons and wife, Joyce of Apopka, FL; her daughter, Pamela Sue Hostetter and husband, Earl of Gardners, PA; two sisters, Ruth E. Wallace of Olathe, KS and Oreta E. Taverne of Pittsburg, PA; her grandsons, Thomas Edward Tenley, David Warren Tenley and Matthew Paul Lamons; her granddaughter, Amanda Sue Mohney; her great grandson, Michael Joseph Mohney; several nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Lamons; her parents, George and Mary Everett; her brother, Hermon H. Everett; her sister, Maud E. Randall.
