Don Cravens

Don E. Cravens, 85, of Pryor, passed from this life on Monday, April 11, 2016 in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was born on December 18, 1930 in Strang, Oklahoma to James R. and Willie Hazel (Johnson) Cravens. Don was inducted into the United States Army on May 21, 1952 and faithfully served his country in Korea. He earned the Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. After returning from Korea he married the love of his life, Aleene Johnson on October 30, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Don graduated from NEO Miami and Oklahoma State University earning his Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Don worked and designed electrical components for the Apollo Space Program and later the oil industry. Don was a life time resident of Tulsa and Mayes County, and was a member of the United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved each and every moment he had with them. He leaves behind many fond memories and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life Service for Don will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016 in the Church of Christ in Pryor with Matt Flindt officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m., until 8:00 p.m, Friday, April 15, 2016 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery with military honors with Spencer Cravens, Sam Cravens, Jared Paschal, Asa Sharp, Justin Moore and Wayne Isaacs serving as pall bearers. Sons, Tim Cravens and wife Judy of Inola, Oklahoma, Tom Cravens and wife Kandi of Pryor, Oklahoma and Todd Cravens and wife Lucy of Verdigris, Oklahoma;Eight grandchildren; Jared Paschal, Kimberly Paschal-McFarlin, Spencer Cravens, Kylie Cravens, Bailey Cravens, Chelsey Cravens, Savannah Cravens and Sam Cravens;Six great-grandchildren; Landon Dorsey-McFarlin, Addie McFarlin, Evan and Madelyn Paschal, Hynnli and Holden Anderson; Siblings; Dale Cravens and wife Glenda, Nadine Cravens Garber, Joyce Cravens Palmer and husband Bob, Carol Cravens Polston and husband Kenneth, Rhonda Cravens Carpenter and husband Jim, and many other relatives and friends. Don is preceded in death by his parents James and Hazel Cravens and sister Bobby Cravens Risner and husband Max.
