Donald Belty Obituary (2023) - Pryor, Oklahoma (gather.app)

Donald Edward Belty, also known by many as Don, 79, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at his home. Born on July 9, 1943, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, he was the son of Alfonso and Nellie (Walston) Belty. During his youth, he was quite an athlete and enjoyed playing baseball, along with other sports. In his earlier years, he worked as a carpenter, building many homes. He also put his knowledge and skills to use building furniture and doing woodwork. Striving to instill good qualities in his children, he passed down the trait of hard work ethic, along with some stubbornness. Loving to travel, he would drive down a road just to see where it led. He leaves behind many memories for his loved ones to cherish and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A funeral service for Don will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Judy Mustain officiating. Interment will follow at the Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor with sons, John, Adam, and Matt and grandsons, Brandon Belty, Tyler Belty, and Adam Ehrhardt serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Chris Belty and Jon Teter. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 15, 2023, and starting at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2023, prior to the service at Shipman’s Funeral Home. Don is survived by his sons, John Belty and wife Deborah of Bixby, OK, Matt Belty and wife Mecca of South Coffeyville, OK, and Adam Belty and wife Tonya of Collinsville, OK; daughter, Lavella Isbell and husband Jed of Owasso, OK; 13 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Nellie Belty; wife, Carol Belty; brother, Dwight Belty; and sister, Kris Belty.
