Donald Lamar

Donald Gene Lamar, 77, of Pryor, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 in Pryor. He was born in Iola, Kansas on August 24, 1939 to V.O. and Maudie (Parks) Lamar. They moved to Muskogee where Don graduated High School. He served in the U.S. Army reserves for 4 years. The family moved to Pryor where he and his dad had a salvage and then a trucking company. Don married Linda (Kinion) Martin on February 26, 1982 in Miami, Oklahoma. Don retired as a truck driver for Hamill Trucking and in his spare time he enjoyed playing dominoes. He was of the Baptist Faith and attended Heritage Southern Baptist. He leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Heritage Southern Baptist Church with Bro. Phil Hudson officiating. Buirial to follow in Benge Cemetery in Strang, Oklahoma. Visitation will be Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; one son, Bryan Martin of Locust Grove, Virginia; 2 nephews, Terry Lamar and wife Paige of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Steve Lamar of Pryor, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Martin, Kaitlin Martin, Hailee Blazier-Martin, and Chad Martin; 2 great grandchildren Cooper Martin and Raylan Martin; Numerous family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, V.O. and Maudie Lamar; 1 brother, Harlan Lamar; 1 son, Rex Martin.
