Donald Stanke, 89, of Salina, was born October 28, 1932, in Henryetta to Fritz and Opal (Land) Stanke. He passed away peacefully on October 26, 2022, at his residence in Salina. Don served in the United States Navy where he earned several medals and was a Korean War Veteran. He was married to Betty Alberty on April 3, 1966, in Bentonville, AR. Betty was the love of his life. Together, they spent time fishing, gardening, canning, and cooking. Don also enjoyed spending time outdoors on his tractor and sharing recipes with his granddaughter Tressa. He was a pipeliner for many years and later worked at GRDA where he retired.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2022, at the Blue Springs Church in Salina with Reverend Lorne Beck officiating. Interment will follow at Bryan Chapel Cemetery in Boatman. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2022. Stanke is survived by 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one brother Claude Stanke and his wife Phillis of Schulter, OK and his sister Priscilla McGuire and husband Elo of Tontitown, AR, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, parents, daughter Tracey, son Mac, daughter-in-law Lula, brother Fritz, and sisters Virginia Osborne and Donna Marie Morgan. In lieu of other remembrances, donations can be made to Blue Springs Church.
