Dora Florine Vargas, 84, of Chouteau, Oklahoma, passed away on April 19, 2012 in Claremore, Oklahoma. Dora was born on September 14, 1927 in LaGrange, Georgia, the daughter of Benjamin and Fairy East. While living in Miami, Florida she worked as a cook on a private yacht for millionaire owners. While working there she had the opportunity to meet several movie stars. She loved to dance and listen to music. Dora enjoyed being outdoors, working with her flowers and shrubs. She liked to laugh and was known for her wonderful southern accent. She told everyone she was a "Georgia Peach." Dora married Frank Vargas Sr. in 1975 at Miami, Florida. She moved to Chouteau in 1978, making her home here since that time. She worked for Grand Valley Hospital as a ward clerk. Dora was a member of the Moose Lodge in Tulsa and the Pryor Elks Lodge. She has lived at Wood Manor Nursing Center in Claremore for the last few years where she was loved by all who participated in her care. She was a lovely lady who dearly loved her family and all her many friends. She will be remembered in the many special memories she leaves for each to cherish. Funeral Services for Dora will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Shipman's Funeral Chapel in Pryor, Oklahoma, with Reverend K.E. Gerhart officiating. Interment will be later in the week in the Grantville Cemetery in Grantville, Georgia. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Phillips of West Virginia, Mary Vargas, Fran Vargas and Terrie Hollis all of Pryor, OK; her brother, Charles Edward East and wife, Janice, of Grantville, GA; brother-in-laws, John and wife, Margaret Vargas of Sacramento, CA, Spencer Vargas of Woodland, CA and Tony and wife, Maggie Vargas of Dewey, OK; sister, Betty Gene Harper of Jackson, MS; sister-in-laws, Librada Gonzales of Sacramento, CA and Mary and husband, Milford Martin of Sacramento, CA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Fairy East; her brother, Alfred Gaines East.
