Doris Oleta Moffatt

Doris Oleta Moffatt, 100, of Locust Grove, passed peacefully away on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 3, 1922 in Atoka, Oklahoma; the daughter of Edward and Lucy (Willard) Buckholts. She married the love of her life, Harry Moffatt on October 11, 1939 at the age of 17 years. Doris worked in the home all of her life tending to the needs of her three children and her husband. She was a Christian woman, who never drank and prayed fiercely over her family. Doris had a memory that was unrivaled, was a wonderful storyteller and delighted her family with memories of her childhood as well as their own childhood. She leaves a loving legacy behind for her family to cherish and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 4, 2022 in the Locust Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Blair officiating. Burial will follow in the Tahlequah Municipal Cemetery in Tahlequah, Oklahoma with Mike Wheeler, Scott Wheeler, Andrew Wheeler, Jayden Wheeler, Stone Shew, Dylan Shew, and Sam Wheeler serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Kyler, Dalton, Steve, Erich, George, and Joe. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., August, 3, 2022 at Shipman’s Funeral Home in Pryor. Doris is survived by her daughter, Ketrena Grosse and husband Steve; son, George Moffatt and wife Susan; grandchildren, Joe Moffatt, Julie Dikeman, Mike Wheeler, Melodie Pardue, Scott Wheeler, and a lengthy list of great grandchildren from many generations. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lucy Buckholts, husband, Harry Moffatt, daughter, Pricella Mayton, and sister, Ilene Buckholts.
