Dorothy Marie Legge, 91, of Pryor, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 in Chouteau, Oklahoma. She was born on October 24, 1924 in Arcadia, Kansas; the daughter of Charles and Jessie Tompkins. Dorothy has been a 62 year resident of Mayes County, coming from Pittsburg, Kansas. She married the love of her life, Belden Legge, in March 1945 in Sioux City, Iowa. Together, they made a home and raised 5 children. Dorothy got saved at 7 years old and remained faithful to her Lord throughout the years, faithfully attending church. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Pryor, and looked forward to attending church services and events. Dorothy worked for Wilkerson Real Estate as a sales associate, and after many years there, she retired to spend more time with her family. She was a published poet and loved to spend time writing poetry and reading. Dorothy was also an active member of the Salina Mission; she had a passion for helping others. Dorothy was a wonderful Christian woman, who touched many lives and was an inspiration to all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2016 in the Pentecostal Church of God in Pryor, Oklahoma with Reverend Junior Mullin officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery with Trey Mullin, Sonny Billey, Jim Sloan, Raymond Chandler, and Steve Howard serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Kathy Weaver and husband Bob of Pryor, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren, Deana Buford of Pryor, Oklahoma, Christy Billey of Chouteau, Oklahoma, and Ericka Homer of Plano, Texas; 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jessie Tompkins, her husband, Belden Legge, sons, Larry, Danny and John Legge, daughter, Judy Legge, brother, Clyde Tompkins, and sisters, Edith Garret and Bea Benson.
