Dorothy Mitchell

Dorothy Louise Mitchell, 93, of Adair, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015 in Pryor, Oklahoma. She was born on August 15, 1922 in Wessington Springs, South Dakota; the daughter of George and Evelyn (Delozier) Snyder. She graduated from Adair High School in the class of 1939. Dorothy was a homemaker all her life; enjoying each moment she had raising and spending time with her children. She was a lifetime resident of Adair and a lifetime member of the Adair Christian Church. She and her husband, Lee Roy, owned and operated Mitchell Construction. Dorothy enjoyed spending time being a foster grandparent for 17 years. Dorothy had a love for helping people and spending time with those she loved most. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 18, 2015 in the Adair Christian Church in Adair, Oklahoma with Reverend Davies Vanpool officiating. Burial will follow in the Adair Cemetery with Bryan Timmons, Michael Mitchell, Phillip Pippin, Doug Abbott, Patrick Thomas, and Garrett Timmons serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Mike Mitchell, Gary Timmons, Daniel Mitchell, Blake Harrison, Logan Head, Ryne Abbott, Dillon Abbott. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Dorothy is survived by her son, Danny "Mike" Mitchell of Adair, Oklahoma; daughters, Jone and husband Gary Timmons of Disney, Oklahoma and Donna Harrison of Adair, Oklahoma; sister, Maxine Cason of Adair, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, George Snyder; mother, Evelyn Snyder Davis; step father, James Davis; her husband, Lee Roy Mitchell; son, Roy Joe Mitchell; sister, Ellene Walmer; and brother J.W. "Dub" Davis.
