Dorothy Wassom

Dorothy "Dot" Mae Wassom, 81, of Chouteau, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on May 5, 1933 in Mazie; the daughter of Floyd and Mary (Hennigh) Hagar. She married Perry Wassom on September 28, 1951. Dot worked most of her life at the Bank of Commerce in Chouteau and Century National Bank in Pryor, first as a cashier, then as Vice President of the Bank in Pryor. Dot also loved to go to Branson and spending holidays with her family. Dot loved life and looked forward to time she had to spend with those she loved most. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 21, 2014 in the Faith Baptist Church in Chouteau, Oklahoma with Reverend Brad Utley officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner with Jeff Thomas, Jason Stimson, Kevin Stimson, Jeremy Wassom, Adam Fultz Wassom, and Scott Wassom serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Kenneth Jake Wassom, Justin Thomas, and Tim James. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 20, 2014 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. Dot is survived by her son, Jerry and wife Robbie Wassom of Chouteau, Oklahoma; daughters, Beverly Stimson of Chouteau, Oklahoma and Kathy Bennett of Chouteau, Oklahoma; special niece, Sandy Turner of Chouteau, Oklahoma; sisters, Leona Cole of Mazie, Oklahoma and Virginia Atchley of Coweta, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren, Jeff, Amber, Jason, Jeremy, Adam, Kevin, and Scott; 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death her husband, Perry Wassom; parents, Floyd and Mary Hagar; sister, Marguarite Sly; brothers, Alfred Hagar and Bob Hagar; and son - in - law, Dan Bennett.
