Dottie Elrod, 93, of Mazie, passed away on May 31, 2014 in Mazie. She was born on September 10, 1920 in Hulbert, Oklahoma; the daughter of Harvey and Mary E. (Bond) Rice. She attended Martha Brown School in Mazie. Dottie married John Elrod on October 3, 1938 in Strang, Oklahoma. Dottie worked for Chouteau Nursing Home for 17 years. She loved working in her garden, which she had up until a few years ago. Dottie enjoyed flowers of all kinds. She was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She enjoyed spoiling her grandkids. She will be remembered by all the wonderful memories she leaves behind and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 6, 2014 in the Chouteau West Cemetery with Reverend Jerold Pilant officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014 in the Shipman Funeral Home Chapel. Dottie is survived by her sons, Wade Elrod of Mazie, Oklahoma and Dale Elrod of Chouteau, Oklahoma; 4 daughters, Janice and husband Jerry Holland of Oologah, Oklahoma, Judy Holt of Pryor, Linda and husband Leland Kidd of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Brenda and husband Jerry Couch of Chouteau, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 2 great - great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Mary Rice, husband, John Elrod, daughter, Beverly Etter, son, Wayne Elrod, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters.
