Dr. Brenda J. Harrison, known to loved ones as “Aunt B,” passed away on July 13, 2024, surrounded by family. Brenda was born on March 8, 1953, to Gene Treas and Joyce Holman Treas in Ada, Oklahoma. Brenda’s life was filled with various passions. Brenda was a die-hard fan of the Oklahoma Sooners. She had a passion for education that lasted her entire life. Brenda was a loving daughter, sister, and aunt. Aunt B loved her family and enjoyed every moment she could spend with her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Brenda was a strong woman who achieved accolades throughout her career as an educator and exhibited her determination as a cancer survivor. Brenda attended School in Ahloso, Chouteau, and Pryor, Oklahoma where she proudly graduated in the class of 1971. After graduation, Brenda attended Northeastern State University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1975. Brenda went on to teach math at Pryor Junior High School while pursuing her Master’s in Education. Brenda graduated with her Master’s Degree from Northeastern State University in 1980. Brenda continued teaching at Broken Arrow High School, Jenks High School, Carl Albert Junior College, and Northeastern State University. Brenda ironically earned her Doctorate in Education from Oklahoma State University in 1995 but remained a Sooner. Brenda continued working in education as an administrator for Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City and at Oklahoma City Community College where she retired in 2008.
She is survived by her sister Sandra Eastham and husband Joe; her brother Gary Treas and wife Linda; her sister Paula Mibb and husband Wayne, all of Pryor, Oklahoma; Her 6 nieces Janette, Tiffany, Miranda, Amanda, Haley, and Alyssa; her 4 nephews Sean, Kevin, Keith, and Benjamin; and her 18 great nieces and nephews. She was welcomed home by her father and mother Gene and Joyce Treas, and her brother-in-law James Price. Because of Brenda’s love and commitment to education and the University of Oklahoma Brenda decided to donate her body to science. In lieu of flowers Brenda has wished for donations to be made to the OU Foundation. Donations can be mailed to Willed Body Program, BSEB 138, PO Box 26901, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73126-0901.
Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Shipman's Funeral Home in Pryor. The family will be having a private end of life celebration upon the return of Brenda’s ashes.
