Earl Schilt

Earl Gene Schilt, 78, Of Strang, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at his home. He was born May 17, 1938 in Dewey, Oklahoma; the son of Chris Schilt and Dorothy (Tatum) Schilt. He married June Johnson on March 2, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois. Earl worked on his cattle farm in Strang, Oklahoma and enjoyed working as a carpenter as well. Earl owned Earl's Feed and Seed in Strang and a local gas station in the area. He looked forward to hunting and fishing, He looked forward to going to cookouts and spending quality time with his friends and family. He also loved to dance when he got the chance. Most of all, Earl loved his family and cherished each moment he had to spend with them. He leaves behind many memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2016 in the Strang First Baptist Church in Strang, Oklahoma with Pastor Mike Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the Benge Cemetery with Jeremy Russell, Brian Ball, Bob Martin, Chad Warren, Rodney Schilt, and Chris Schilt serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearer will be David Wayne Richards. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 15, 2016 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Earl is survived by his wife, June Schilt of the home; son, Wayne Schilt and wife Cheryl of Strang, Oklahoma; daughters, Barbie Ball and husband Alan of Strang, Oklahoma and Kelly Maynor and husband Shawn of Talala, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Dorothy Schilt; brother, Vernon "Schosty" Schilt, sisters, Sarah Morrow and Betty Norton; granddaughter, Dana Rene Ball; neice, Teresa Schilt and nephew, Danny Thorton.
