Edna Gay

Edna Gay, 90, of Pryor, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born April 17, 1923 in Pensacola, Oklahoma, the daughter of Frank and Bessie (Nix) Brixey. She married Elijah Gay in which they spent 59 years together before he preceded her in death. Edna was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church. Attending church and the church activities was her number one passion. She was a prayer warrior. Edna was an accomplished seamstress. She loved gardening and canning the vegetables she harvested from that garden. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend who will be so greatly missed. Funeral services for Edna will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the First Free Will Baptist Church, Pryor, Oklahoma with Reverend Thomas Ballard officiating. Interment will follow in the Ghormley Cemetery, Pensacola, Oklahoma with Jonthan Scheffel, Tony Brixey, Roy Kerns, Parker Ballard, Jeff McCrary and Wesley Gay serving as casket bearers. Butch Gay will serve as an honorary casket bearer. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening. She is survived by her daughters, Dena Watkins and husband Bill of Adair, OK; Bonnie Tubbs and husband Rick of McAlester, OK; 2 sisters, Alberta Coors of Piedmont, OK, Margaret Minson of Watertown, SD; 1 brother, Lonnie Brixey of Vinita, OK; 3 grandchildren Billy Kilpatrick, Christina Kinger and Mary Tubbs. 1 great grandchild Troy Kinger; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Bessie Brixey, her husband Elijah Gay; sisters, Ella, Ruth and Roberta; brother, Howard Brixey
