E.J. Chupp

E.J. Chupp, 80, of Inola, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  E.J. was born on December 5, 1939 in Inola, Oklahoma, the son of John L. Chupp and Mary Ann (Yoder) Chupp.  E.J. married Ida Mae Bontrager on November 16, 1961 in Chouteau, Oklahoma.  Married 59 years, they made a wonderful life together raising five children.  E.J. was an auctioneer, he loved every aspect of the auction industry and his motto was “The Auction Way is the Only Way!”  In 1972 he started Chupps Auction Company and was best known for operating E.J.’s Consignment Sale in Inola, OK.   E.J. served on the District 2 Water Board for many years.  For over 30 years he managed the Pryor Stockyards.  E.J. bought and sold cattle and was a dairyman for many years.  As a young adult he enjoyed team roping with his friends.  E.J. loved his Lord and his church family and was an active member of the Zion Mennonite Church for over 56 years.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 9:33 a.m. in the Zion Mennonite Church with Pastor Duey Matthews officiating.  Interment will be in the Zion Mennonite Cemetery with casket bearers, Ryan Kennell, Tyler Chupp, Randy Kennell, Justin Chupp, Daniel Chupp, and Jonathan Miller.  Honorary casket bearers are Tye Chupp, Emmet Chupp, Joseph Hershberger III, Sam Tucker, Will Tucker and Barrett Kennell.  Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 in the Zion Mennonite Church. E.J. is survived by his wife, Ida Mae (Bontrager) Chupp of the home; his sons, Leon Chupp of Muskogee, OK, Dale Chupp and wife Maria of Inola, OK and Stanley Chupp and wife, Cindy of Inola, OK; daughters, Wanda Peeples and husband, Mark of Granger, TX and Shirley Kennell and husband, Larry of Chouteau, OK; brother, Johnny Chupp and wife, Katie Mae of Inola, OK; sisters, Lydia Mae Chupp of Maysville, KY, Mary Fern Chupp of Kalona, IA, Freda Chupp of Chouteau, OK and Esther Hershberger and husband, Jacob of Inola, OK; grandchildren, Daniel Chupp, Nevaeh Chupp, Emmet Chupp, Tye Chupp, Tyler Chupp and fiancé, Becca Primeaux, Paige Chupp, Justin Chupp, Kari Kennell, Ryan Kennell and wife, Shaina, Beka Kennell, Randy Kennell and Allison Raleigh and husband, Camaren, Ginger Tucker and husband Chris, Chelsea Hershberger and husband Joseph Hershberger II, Samantha Lawrence and husband Derek; Great-Grandchildren, Will and Sam Tucker, Autumn O’Donnell, June O’Donnell, Joseph Hershberger III, Kamdyn Hershberger, Rory Fine, Hillary Lawrence, Rhett Kennell and Barrett Kennell; many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Ann Chupp; brother, Noah Ray Chupp; sister, Elizabeth Miller; niece, Dorthea Chupp.
