Elaine Miller

Elaine L. Miller passed peacefully unto our Lord, January 18, 2013 at the age of 90. She was born July 8, 1922 in Norfolk, Nebraska. Raised in Nebraska and after graduating from high school, in support of the war effort she ventured to the Portland, Oregon shipyards to become a "5 plate welder" and assist in building ships for the U.S. Navy. She came to Oklahoma in 1945. Elaine was a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Her hospitality and great cooking drew many to her table over the years. She was always busy with crafts, crocheting, poetry and music. Her passions were family, friends, crappie fishing and bird watching. Drawn by her compassionate heart to nursing, most of her working years were in medicine. She retired from Grand Valley Respiratory Department. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wren and Alheida Cranford; her beloved brothers, Wren and Rex Cranford, the father of her daughters, DeWayne Casey and her husband of the home, George "Short" Miler. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Woolery and Kathleen Lukos and husbands Roger Woolery and Will Lukos; 2 grandchildren, Lyndee Waller and Matthew Geatches; 5 great grandchildren, Corey Crawford, Nichole and Michael Williams, Elayna and Charlotte Geatches; 4 great great grandchildren, Jadyn, Mylee and Nathaniel Pena and Peyton Williams; her beloved nephew, Ernest Casey and wife, Sally; many other relatives and friends. Elaine shared her energy and smile with all she met. Her tiny frame held a huge heart and a love of life! Rest well, Elaine, we will be seeing you again in Heaven! We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Claremore Nursing Home and Evergreen Hospice for their tender care of Elaine and for their comfort to our family. A Memorial Service to Celebrate Elaine's life will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Shipman's Funeral Chapel in Pryor, Oklahoma.
