Eleonore Smith

Eleonore Johanna Scherz - Smith, 87, of Pryor, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at her home. She was born on February 1, 1929 in Regensburg, Germany; the daughter of Emmerich Scherz and Anna Maria (Popachek) Scherz. She worked at Cinch as a Quality Control Inspector for 20 years. Eleonore married Austin Smith, who preceded her in death. She enjoyed quilting and sewing of any kind, especially making blankets. She was a wonderful cook and had a talent for making German food. Eleonore was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church and was a member of the quilting club at church. She was a lovely lady, who leaves behind so many wonderful memories for her family to cherish.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 2, 2017 in the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Langley with Pastor Ben Pasco officiating. Burial will follow in the Carslowey Cemetery with Robert Burdine, Travis Thomas, Austin Caldwell, Eddie Aguirre, Brody Sorum, and Tate Sorum serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 1, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Eleonore is survived by her daughters, Nancy Sloan of Pryor, Oklahoma and Charlotte Burdine and husband Robert of Pryor, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Austin Caldwell of Pryor, Oklahoma, Julie Thomas of Pryor, Oklahoma and Kamisha Jacobson of Pryor, Oklahoma; 11 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Austin Smith; parents, Emmerich and Anna Maria Scherz; infant son, Kurt Smith; brother, Emmerich Scherz, sister, Anna Maria Rice and son in law, William "Bill" Sloan.
